Pawn Software giant PawnMaster integrates with the Specially Designated Nationals List (SDN)

The pawn software giant PawnMaster, integrates with the Specially Designated Nationals List (SDN). As part of its enforcement efforts, OFAC publishes a list of individuals and companies owned or controlled by, or acting for or on behalf of, targeted countries. It also lists individuals, groups, and entities, such as terrorists and narcotics traffickers designated under programs that are not country-specific. Collectively, such individuals and companies are called “Specially Designated Nationals” or “SDNs.” Their assets are blocked and U.S. persons are generally prohibited from dealing with them.PawnMaster offers a module that uses that list with existing customers in your database to ensure you are not doing business with such “SDNs”.

When Pawnbrokers take something in pawn or buy something, they just don’t take an ID. They take their customer’s driver’s license number, their height, their weight, their eye color, their build. They turn that into the local police department, and then also turn it into Homeland Security. It’s part of the Patriot Act, and that goes to a central database online across the United States that checks for stolen items.”
